Nathan Walid makes music for the elite. One needs to have a high level of knowledge/IQ to fully grasp his lyrical prowess at first listen.
Thus said, the album ‘A Place Called EMBER’ is a reflection of life, death, and life again for Nathan as told in the intro (Life. Death. Life.) with a mind-blowing phone call conversation between Nathan and his mother, and a sample of late rapper XXXtentacion’ Orlando song. Track 2: Insomnia featuring Dr. Barz (winner; Yung6ix Ina the Benz competition), could arguably be one of the best R&B/Soul records to come out from these parts. With rapper Dr. Barz doing poetic justice to the track.
Trinidad & Tobago (Track 3) is easily a hit. Previously released as a single, the electronic dance music (EDM) gets your attention anytime, any day – a record for ages!
All the other tracks would make the listener fall deep into an appreciation for the musical creative with a very charming sound and great lyrical and songwriting content. And just like the captivating intro, the outro; Summary featuring Amiso the Poet (Track 12) is no doubt a sure way to end an album!
Feed your soul with the debut album from Nigeria’s Pop/EDM/R&B singer and songwriter Nathan Walid who obviously is on a lane of his own with his music. Enjoy!
